Frequently Asked Questions
Who do you work with?
I partner with adults of all ages and life seasons - busy mamas, executives, college students, older adults - and my specialties are personal development, emotional & mental wellbeing, physical wellbeing, and self care. What does this actually look like in the course of a coaching relationship? It depends on each client and their priorities...but you can expect that we'll cover topics such as stress management, personal development, work/life balance, life transitions, physical activity, balanced eating and hydration, sleep, and more!
How can I tell if working with a coach is right for me?
Well, it can help to ask yourself a few questions...Are you stuck in one or more areas of your wellness? Do you see at least one area in your wellness that you're ready to improve? How open are you to trying new strategies? What benefits do you imagine you'll get when you're functioning at a higher level of wellness?
If these questions aren't giving you clarity, never fear -- you and I can take some time to talk through your questions and concerns so that you feel confident in whatever decision you make.
What if I don’t live in Waco?
It's no problem at all if you're outside of Waco! All of my coaching services are delivered via a privacy and security protected client portal which you can access in a web browser or phone app.
How quickly will I start to see results and changes in my lifestyle?
Results will vary according to what area of your wellness that you're working on. As an example, drinking more water will have some quick, nearly immediate benefits you might notice (like changes in appetite) AND will also offer benefits that take a little longer to see (like changes in overall energy, digestion, skin health). On the flip side, working on something like stress management can have both quick results and benefits...and also slower, more long-term benefits. Results can also depend on the client and their energy for change, as well as obstacles and setbacks that occur along the way. Life comes with its ups and downs and that mindset applies to our health and wellness and the timeline of change!
Is working with a coach like working with a counselor or a therapist?
This is such a big question and the short answer is no, coaching is not to be used as a substitute for counseling, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, mental health care, substance abuse treatment, or other professional advice by legal, medical or other qualified professionals.
The longer explanation: the focus of therapy tends to be on resolving concerns from the past that hamper emotional functioning in the present, where coaching tends to be future-focused, leveraging the strengths of today to help support personal and professional growth for the near future. Therapy and counseling is unique in that it focuses on healing pain, dysfunction, and conflict; coaching on the other hand focused on actionable strategies, touching on emotions as needed, without the emotions being the primary focus of the work that is done.
